An application has been submitted for a £65m education campus in Blackpool town centre. The development would be a part of the wider Talbot Gateway regeneration project, in the area around Blackpool North train station. Insider Media reports that the new facility would be occupied by Blackpool and The Fylde College.
The Littlewoods in Liverpool has been a familiar landmark of the city since it was built in 1938. The eye-catching Art Deco structure once housed the UK’s largest football pools empire and was seen as the jewel in its crown. However, its fortunes changed over the years, and for the last two decades the building has become derelict.
The planned regeneration of Wythenshawe town centre in Greater Manchester has taken an upturn after being granted £20m from the government’s Levelling Up fund. In a press release, Manchester City Council announced that the funding has been agreed as part of the third round of national funding.
The government has announced a funding boost for a proposed new railway station in Bradford. In a press release, the Department for Transport said that £400,000 of funding will be made available to the local authority to kickstart the project and work out how it can be carried out to the best advantage of the local community and economy.
A significant building in Leeds city centre has been acquired by developers. Insider Media reports that Bank House on the corner of King Street and Park Place was formerly the regional headquarters of the Bank of England, and has now been bought by the Yorkshire Property company Rushbond.
