Plans have been approved for a major regeneration project for Skegness. Insider Media reports that the Skegness Gateway scheme will be developed on a 136 hectare site to the west of the town and provide up to 1,000 new homes as well as almost 50 acres of retail, business and industrial space.
New plans have been put forward to regenerate the land around Old Trafford football stadium, home of Manchester United. The area also neighbours MediaCity, the 200-acre development on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal in Salford. Insider Media reports that the plans will be up for consultation by Trafford Council, with public input.
A new manifesto has been unveiled by the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce that aims to make key improvements to the road network, railway lines, and also simplify the planning system to attract more growth and investment to the region. Insider Media reports that taxation will be reformed and steps will be taken to bolster skills in the area.
The regeneration plans for Coventry have taken a step forwards as an additional £12.24m of funding was accepted for a mixed-use development which includes homes and commercial space. Insider Media reports that the City Centre South regeneration project has already secured £98.8m grant funding from the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA).
Blackpool has been awarded £90m from the Homes England’s Brownfield Infrastructure Land (BIL) Fund programme to regenerate some of the most deprived areas of the town. Insider Media reports that the announcement was made by the Levelling Up secretary Michael Gove.
