UK Construction Week: October 4th-6th
The UK’s largest built environment event is back once again, taking place at the NEC Birmingham this year between October 4th and 6th, with architect and Channel 4 presenter George Clarke officially opening the show next month.
This year, the exposition will focus on celebrating culture change in construction, with discussions taking place that concentrate on the biggest issues in the industry, such as fire safety, sustainability, quality, mental health, improving diversity and inclusion, offsite manufacturing and so on.
Big-name brands will be exhibiting over the course of the three days, including Balfour Beatty, Tarmac, HS2, Vinci, Schneider Electric, Bosch, Wavin, Google and more.
There will also be sections of the site dedicated to digitalisation, infrastructure, net zero, offsite construction, building materials and skills and careers… so there really will be something for everyone.
Net zero and sustainable construction is one of the biggest areas of focus for UK Construction Week, perhaps unsurprisingly, and this year’s event will see manufacturers, suppliers and partners educate the industry on how standards can be met and how net zero targets can be achieved.
There will be a ZERO Workshop Hub that will look at how digital tools, methods and skills are improving project performance and leading to a reduction in emissions.
Other areas due to be explored include material selection, equipment, labour, construction plant and transport, as well as what role technology and digitalisation has to play where these are concerned.
Those who are unable to make the October event can rest assured that there’s another event being put on in May next year, in London rather than in Birmingham.
