The University of Manchester has announced plans to redevelop student accommodation on its Fallowfield campus. In a recent press release, the scheme is described as a major redevelopment to provide high quality accommodation and student socialising spaces. A public consultation has been launched to gather local feedback.
A planning application for the total redevelopment of Stockport fire station is expected to be submitted shortly, after details of the project were revealed for the first time. The Manchester Evening News reports that the existing station on King Street West, close to the town centre, will be completely demolished and rebuilt.
Planners have approved two new residential developments close to Manchester city centre. The first is for 250 apartments in the Piccadilly basin area, while the second is for purpose built student accommodation close by on First Street.
Sheffield will cement its reputation as a foodie destination with plans for a new food hall to be operated by Blend Family. The city is already home to Cutlery Works, which is the largest independent food hall in the north of England, Insider Media reports. The new development will be run by the same team, Matt Bigland and wife Nina Patel Bigland.
A new warehouse the length of five football pitches is set to be built at the Port of Liverpool, for the purpose of handling and storing cargo. Insider Media reports that the £28m facility at Alexandra Dock will have a capacity of 240,000 sq ft and will include 300 metres of quayside cranes to assist with loading and unloading cargo from vessels.
